OUR ACTIVITIES
Our 5-Year Strategic Work Plan (2024-2029) provides LCY with a five-year roadmap for it programs (2024-2029) in Sierra Leone, along with the organizational and support activities which complement operations. Please click here to read our 5-Year Strategic Work Plan (2024-2029).
The following strategic goals will serve as the base for programs implementation:
1. Christian Youth Leadership Training Program
LCY will organize Christian Youth Leadership Training to equip young people as well as adults and communities with leadership skills and tools necessary for Christian discipleship. The program encourages Christian youth leadership skills that are necessary to function effectively as successful leaders and evangelists within the Church and society as instructed by the faith.
2. Retreats Program
LCY will organize spiritual retreats focused on prayer and practicing virtue. Organized Retreats will occur at different places and times in the next five years. These Retreats will focus on fostering a desire for spiritual growth among young people and encourage devotion to evangelism and soul winning as well as nourish and strengthen the prayer lives of young people and communities.
3. Mission Trips Program
LCY will organize youth mission trips to highlight the importance of serving those in need and to expose young people to the universal and cultural diversity within the Church as well as to the possibility of hope and joy amid poverty. Mission trips will occur at different times and places throughout the year. These trips will encourage Christian service through contemplating the face of Christ in the poor and sacrificial service.
4. Vocational And Skills Training Program
LCY will implement vocational and skills training activities and events where the youth especially disadvantaged young women could learn skills to improve employment and self-employment prospects among them. This program will foster a desire for skill acquisition among young people in different fields, nurture them to become resourceful citizens thereby reducing the high youth related drug abuse, prostitution etc.
5. Seminars and Workshops
LCY will organize seminars and workshops on topics of interest to young people and communities to respond to their needs. Topics may include but are not limited to managing personal finances, evangelism and social justice issues such as early child and forced marriages, degrading human practices, sexual health education, sanitation and hygiene, peace building and intercultural dialogue etc.
